The Competition

The focus of the event is of course the World Plowing Competition, in two classes, reversible plough and conventional plough. One day stubble ploughing and one day grassland ploughing. Once the results have been compiled a winner will be announced in each class.

There is a large span in age as well as in experience among the contestants, but in the eyes of layman it will all look very neat and tidy. It is going to be extremely exciting! The judges have to consider, how straight and deep the contestant has ploughed, how the opening split looks, how the ridge plough lies turned, etc. To rule in ploughing is a science in itself, and demands vast knowledge and experience. The judges are of many nationalities and work in teams. The depth of the plough furrows are constantly measured during the competition by especially assigned Head Stewards.

The winner will be announced at a prize-giving ceremony on Saturday July 20th , 2013.
